Our Documentary

To educate 22 million people on how to use traditional, unrefined, plant-based, whole-foods as medicine to reverse chronic illness and disease.

22 Million Strong Tour

Sea to Sky Thrivers founder Nicolette Richer launched the 22 Million Strong initiative with a 3,200 km run and bike journey around British Columbia in July 2021.

The initiative was connected to Nicolette’s doctoral research through Royal Roads University and focused on exploring the links between food security, soil regeneration, traditional foods, healthy eating, and chronic disease prevention. Along the way, Nicolette connected with BIPOC community leaders, physicians, youth, and local changemakers to better understand the barriers communities face in accessing the knowledge, foods, and conditions needed to support long-term health.

Our full feature-length documentary, Food of Our Ancestors, will be filmed as part of the next phase of this work.

She is on a mission to educate 22 million people on how to use traditional, unrefined, plant-based, whole-foods as medicine to reverse chronic illness and disease. The first mini-doc ‘Grounded in my Roots’ is about an urgent call to come back to our roots, to pre-settler, whole-foods as our foundation, as our medicine. We need to respect the BIPOC ways of knowing…what science has been telling us for over 200 years is that traditional foods are our medicine.
